Venomous

ABOUT THE BUILD

Venomous is a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon owned by Poison Spyder founders Larry and Cheri McRae. Finished in factory Dozer Yellow, this JK didn’t start out special. It rolled in bone stock and earned its place over time, becoming one of the more recognizable Poison Spyder builds through use, not hype.

Originally built as Poison Spyder’s 2012 R&D platform, Venomous quickly proved it could be more than just a test mule. As Cheri’s daily driver, it had to be comfortable enough for real road miles, but still capable when the pavement ended. The intent was never to chase a single-purpose crawler. This Jeep needed to be driven regularly and trusted when the trail got serious.

Venomous has since seen trails across the country, from the Rubicon and the Hammers to Moab, Grand Junction, and deep into the Rockies. It’s not a retired show rig or a one-season build. Larry and Cheri still own it, still drive it, and still put it to work.

From bone stock to fully wrapped in Poison Spyder armor, Venomous shows what happens when protection, fitment, and design are treated as equally important.

WHY POISON SPYDER

BUILT FOR
REAL USE
Venomous wasn’t built for a single event or a short run of photos. It was built to rack up miles, take hits, and keep moving. Poison Spyder parts are designed for Jeeps that actually get used, which makes them a natural fit for a build that lives both on the street and on some of the most well-known trails in the country.
SMART WEIGHT,
STRONG PROTECTION
This isn’t a competition-only rig, so weight mattered. Instead of overbuilding everything, lightweight aluminum armor was used where it made sense, protecting critical areas without dragging down ride quality or handling. The result is a Jeep that still feels good to drive while delivering the protection it needs on the trail.
A SYSTEM THAT
WORKS TOGETHER
Nothing on Venomous was chosen in isolation. Bumpers, rockers, flares, corners, and skids all work together as a complete setup, not a mix of unrelated parts. That cohesion shows up on the trail, where clearance, protection, and overall confidence matter more than any single component.
