ABOUT THE BUILD
Before it became a race car, Crispy was a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon that had seen better days. After catching on fire after King of the Hammers, it was left with little more than a frame and part of a tub.
Poison Spyder bought it and set it aside, knowing one day they’d give it a second chance. That chance came in 2013 when the team sold their main race Jeep and decided to rebuild this burnt shell into a competitive rig for the 2014 King of the Hammers. The only challenge, it needed to be done in under 80 days.
Six months later, the transformation was unreal. The team stripped everything unnecessary, reinforced the frame, and added a custom LS3 V8 paired with a Turbo 400 transmission and Atlas transfer case. They equipped it with Currie RockJock 70 axles for strength and ground clearance and Detroit Lockers with 5.38 gears to handle brutal climbs. We also reconfigured the Fox suspension for better travel, articulation, and durability. Every upgrade had a purpose: stronger, faster, and better.
The real stars of the build were the Poison Spyder upgrades designed to protect the Jeep in every corner. We added bumpers, Crusher Flares, reinforced fenders, and Rock Sliders, all of which are the same parts customers can buy straight from our website. Every part is designed to take hits, protect vital components, and handle real-world abuse.
