Project JKOH

JKOH8Grunge

ABOUT THE BUILD

King of the Hammers is one of the toughest off-road races in the world. It is 120 miles of brutal rockcrawling, high-speed desert sections, and terrain that destroys rigs built specifically for it. Most purpose-built race cars don’t make it to the finish line. So the idea of sending a nearly stock Jeep JK into that environment sounded… a little crazy.

That challenge is exactly why JKOH was born.

Created by Dave Cole (Hammerking) and Larry McRae (Poison Spyder), JKOH started as a bone-stock 2011 Jeep JK Sport Unlimited. The mission was simple: take real aftermarket parts that everyday Jeep owners actually use, bolt them onto a showroom JK, and turn it into a KOH-ready race rig, in just a couple of weeks.

It was ambitious, rushed, and right up Poison Spyder’s alley. With support from some of the best companies in the off-road world, JKOH became a legitimate race entry. And more importantly, it proved what a properly outfitted JK could really do.

JKOH went on to inspire a dealer-ready conversion package, giving Jeep owners the chance to build their own version of this race-inspired project.

WHY POISON SPYDER

RACE-PROVEN
PROTECTION
KOH exposes every weak point on a vehicle, so JKOH needed armor that could take direct hits at both crawl speeds and race speeds. Adding Poison Spyder armor gave the JK the clearance, strength, and durability it needed to survive King of the Hammers.
BACKED BY REAL
RACING EXPERIENCE
Poison Spyder designs come from years of racing, testing, and breaking parts in the desert and on the rocks. JKOH benefited directly from that experience. Every component was chosen because it had already been proven in the toughest conditions.
REAL-WORLD PARTS
FOR REAL JEEP OWNERS
Nothing on JKOH was a one-off race piece. The Poison Spyder components used on this build are the same production parts Jeep owners can buy and bolt onto their own rigs.
